Erie Art Gallery to Move into Crypto Art
Erie Art Gallery might be another business that closed their physical doors due to the pandemic, but the work we do has not stopped. EAG is proud to announce its work and experimentation into the Crypto Art Markets with a grant from Erie County Redevelopment Authority (ECRDA). Erie Art Gallery seeks to branch out in new creative directions and expand its vision to encompass NFT Crypto Art. NFTs, or non-fungible tokens, transform digital works of art and other collectibles into one-of-a-kind, verifiable assets that are easy to trade on the blockchain. NFTs have exploded in popularity this year in tandem with a rise in the values of cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum. This is a needed component for the future of art and digital commerce that will enhance Erie Art Gallery’s Virtual Reality Art Shows.

Some of the grant assistance will also go to the development of marketing materials and informational collateral. These tools will be used to help onboard the Erie Art Gallery’s staff as quickly as possible and give them a strong foundation in blockchain technologies and how to leverage it to sell art and educate Erie artists in how to sell their original work in the new NFT Marketplace. In addition, an online marketplace will be built for local artists to sell their work through the assistance of these consultants. Once the pandemic rules are lessened, Erie Art Gallery will launch NFT Crypto exhibits.
“This NFT Crypto Art trend hasn’t gone unnoticed by investors, who have poured $90 million into NFT and digital collectibles companies so far in 2021 “ CNBC News
